Gracious God, we lift up before you the overwhelming needs of those affected by the devastating earthquake in Haiti.
For those who have lost everything, including homes, workplaces, churches, schools, and their loved ones.......
Lord in your mercy,
Hear our prayers.
For people in Haiti and elsewhere around the globe who have lost contact with their loved ones due to this disaster, who are feeling helpless and afraid.......
Lord in your mercy,
Hear our prayers.
For Haitians all over the world who are watching the catastrophe in their homeland.......
Lord in your mercy,
Hear our prayers.
For the devastation of the earth, the environment, water, and the loss of vegetation and animal life.......
Lord in your mercy,
Hear our prayers.
For those who are working to feed the hungry, clothe the naked, shelter the homeless, and
bury the dead.......
Lord in your mercy,
Hear our prayers.
For the repose of the souls of all who have died and who will die as a result of this tragedy.......
Lord in your mercy, Hear our prayers.
From complacency and hardness of heart in the face of overwhelming need: Good Lord, deliver us.
From fear that we somehow won't have enough if we share and give from our resources: Good Lord, deliver us.
Lord have mercy.
Christ have mercy.
Lord have mercy.
In the sure and certain hope in the promises of the abundant love of Christ, let us turn our hearts and our wills to supporting the people of Haiti and all those affected by this earthquake until new life emerges from the remains. Let us cooperate with Christ in being agents of reconciliation and redemption in this place at this time, for the healing of Haiti and for our own souls' sake. Amen.
